Ain’t no mistaking my prime objective: financial survival. Whatever it takes. My ex husband used to say I was a “writing slut … pay her and she’ll write anything.” And I will. But I’m also doing my own thang, which I figure has as good a chance at bringing in cold hard cash as any work-for-hire writing/editing I might do. If I can split my time pretty much equally between the two, I’ll be one happy gal.

As some sage somewhere said and a friend recently shared with me, “Don’t wait for the light at the end of the tunnel … run down there and get it!”

I think Cup of Comfort for Dog Lovers was the first essay I wrote for an anthology-and started me on a career. And I’m not sure I ever properly thanked you (which is not the way this Southern woman was raised)-so thank you, Colleen! I’ve written and sold lots of essays, but you never forget the first! Here’s hoping your words sing a joyful song for years to some.
